Final Week : ) The End

Hello, my fellow classmates we are now done to the final class and I have to honestly say I have learned so much in this class. I have enjoyed all of our discussions, because of this class I now have a better understanding of how technology is all around us and shapes our life in so many ways. I look forward to incorporating all these wonderful techniques that I learned in this class in my classroom.

Questions: what is one thing in regards to technology that you will take away from the class?

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

Hello, Class as we as boiling down to the final weeks of the class I just have to say how much I realized from being in this class how much technology has a direct and indirect affect on each and everyone of our lives. Even in my social life its hard to imagine technology not being part of it, technology influences how each and everyone of us communicate with one another. As teachers we muct understand this fact, that the world is so consumed with technology and we should be changing with the times as well. \

Question: Picture a wprld with no form of technology today? What does it look like and what do you see?

In Chapter 10 something I found to be very informative is the idea of differentiated instruction. Differentiated instruction is very crucial because all students have different learning methods that helps them learn best and its important for teachers not to only know that but embrace it by setting there classroom lesson to cater to the needs of each and every student.
In chapter 11 I have to start out by saying I really enjoyed this chapter, it discusses the importance of self reflection. I think classroom reflections are very benefical for students and teachers. The teachers will be able to know the area in which the students feel they can improve and it reflections are also great for assessing the students thought process as they completed the assignment.

Hello, my fellow students I hope everyone had a great weekend! after reading chapter nine i have a better idea of how I can use many multi media software to get my class more engaged in the lesson while teaching them something benefical at the same time. One example I found striking was how the text talked about powerpoint. I used powerpoint so much in the past but I never knew it could be so informative when getting a lesson or messgae acrosss to students. So far chapter 9 is my favorite chapter because many of the software and examples they gave in the text I have done at one point and or currently still doing.

Questions
Why is multi media so important to incorporate in the classroom?
Could you imagine a world with know form of technology, what do you think the world would be like today?

Week 9

In chapter 8 I loved how the author touched on different forms of communication and how we as teachers can incorporate these methods into our classroom. The amazing part is that we use these communication tools everyday. For example, Electronic mail we all use daily email as a way to conneect to our friends, family and co workers. I think the fact that the text touched on these methods just reminds us as teachers that there are so many resources for us to use to better educate our students. The text also touched on bloggjng and how it can be very informative for teachers to network, I find this informative because this is my first learning and doing a blog in this class.

Question: What forms of technology do you think you would incorporate in your classroom?
What forms of technology communication due you think is important?

Class Activity!

1. Nets for Teachers and Students are addressed when you are using digital games because it allows you to interact with your students using technology that will help them in there learning as well as make you a better teacher. I think that technology can sometimes be a distraction if the games are not geared towards the students learning.

2. In my classroom I plan to use many games like this to have my students practice what they have learned. I would assign my students math games for example or spelling games to see how much they have learned. From my understanding not alot of games passed state and national standards to all the games that are out on the market.

New week : )

In chapter 7 titled problem solving and inquiry learning with software and web tool. I really enjoyed this chapter I found this chapter to be one of the most informative. On page 176 of the text it discusses how problem solving and inquiry learning begin with real world situations and issues to actively engage students. I couldnt agree with this concept more because students learn best when they learn things that can be applied to there everyday life. I think this could also be applied in the way I implement technology in my classroom. The beauty of technology is the range of ideas and concepts the teacher uses to the teach the class. For example, In my classroom I might do a webquest or powerpoint on a topic my students can most relate to on a personal level. I really enjoyed reading about the types of standard software some of the application prior to reading I did not know and others I use on a daily basis. Overall I thought this chapter was very helpful and informative.

Questions for the class

Do you feel center software applications are better than others?

What is your favorite software application and why?

Do you believe a teacher can be effective if he or she does not have extension knowledge of most software applications?

Week 6

Hello! my fellow class mates I hope everyone had a great weekend. I really found chapter 6 to be very informative like I have stated in previous posts Im not to big on technology so I found this chapter to be very insighful. In chapter 6 of the text it discusses the use of educational tools that you can use via online that could help you better teach you students. In reading the chapter I came across some tools that I know I would want to use to be an effective teacher. The first one is educational websites I think educational websites are a great way for the students to stay ingaged as well as learn something informative in the process. Educational sites are a great way to help the teacher in the lesson planning process, some sites can be a guide into the lesson are the ending to a lesson. I think interactive videoconferencing is another great way to keep the students interest I think videoconferencing would be more effective to use in higher the higher grades or secondary level by maybe having a guest speaking etc. I also loved reading this chapter because it told the reader how to use the bookmark and favorites tools to name a few, I thought that was extremely helpful expecially to individuals that are beginning in there technology journey.

Question:
What is your favorite educational website?
Do you think educational websites are helpful to students?
Do you think you will implement educational website as a method to teach your class.

Week 5
My favorite part of reading chapter 4 in the text was the author discussing the participation gap. This was my favorite part section because it is a reality that not all kids have access to technolgy at home, often times these are lower income students. I was one of those students I did not recieve a laptop until my senior of college for a graduation present and growing up compuers and software were never acessible to me but that didnt mean that I didnt have a hunger for knowledge and most of my teachers made it there task to see that I was fully knowledge on the lesson and some teachers that didnt care about me lesson anything but my will and desire never changed. We now live in a generation that is greatly inpacted by technology much more than when I was a child and as time goes on technology continues to advance.
Does you think the participation gap is a huge problem in are education system today?
Do you think it is neccessary for every child to have a computer either at school or at home?

Week 4

Hello my fellow classmates!, I hope everyone had a great weekend

In this weeks reading of chapter four my favorite part of the reading was then the author discussed the stages of technology integration. I found this section to be the most interesting because I can relate to every one of the stages. In taking this course has helped and will continue to help me learn new and exciting ways that I can implement technology into my classroom. I am learning so much already for someone that was born in a technnology advanced world compared to many of my freinds i am not technologically advanced to say the least but I no the basics. I also found it to be interesting because I can remember when I was younger I thought my teachers knew everything and now as I have grown and matured I realize we as a people are always learning and their is always something to be taught. Growing up none of my teachers accept for one used any form of technology based learning approaches in reading this chapter I know have many insights into why many of my teachers choose not to. I also found it interesting how it discusses how many teachers are reluctant to incorporate technology into their classroom expecially when teaching new lessons. As someone that is not as advanced in technology as my peers prior to taking this course if I was put into a classroom I would also be reluctant, often times we are nervous or scared of change expecially when we are not fully trained on the task but I want to be a teacher that embraces change not shy away. I believe students can benefit from many leaning styles I feel the more the better.

Questions:
How would you rate your level of computer skills?
When you become a teacher do you plan to incorporate technology as part of lesson plans?
Do you think believe that teachers who are not technologically advanced are as good as teachers who arent and why?

Week 3

As I started to read chapter three of the text, one of the essential topics that the author touched on was effective teachers provide room for spontaneity and time to explore questions and topics that are on the minds of students. I personally couldnt agree more, a great teacher in my opinion is not just teaching your students the material that is taught in a textbook or overhead but really getting the children excitied and engaged in their learning. One way of doing that is by allowing the student to ask questions that they need clearity on or question that they feel to be of importance. When students ask questions they feel apart of the classroom community and it inhances there learning because they will get the answer to whatever problem or issue that was of there concern.

Questions
Do you think it is good for teachers to follow a script
Do you think teachers can effectively teach there students only using technology based learning material. Example, powerpoint etc.
Do you believe when teachers are making study plans should make room or develop time to mistakes and errors if they happen to arise, or do you believe teachers shouldnt be allowed to make errors.

Week 2: This week after watching the videos and reading chapter 1,2, and 3 I can say that I have gained alot of insight into the role that technology plays in our daily lives. I loved watching the videos, the video that I loved the most was ''Growing Up Online'' I was able to relate to alot of the things that were discussed in the video. I often sometimes get distracted by being online and I am very terrible at multitasking, althought its something that I try to continuce to work out. This weeks readings were also interesting I loved the concept of Behaviorism and how it is defined as learning is a set of changes in human behavior, I agree with this statement because everything we have learned has been taught to us and and that learning is a process of memorizing, demostrating and imitating.

Is it a good idea to require students to have labtops in the classroom on the elementary and middle school level?
Is their a such thing as being able to successfully multi-task?
Can our brains successful do to things as once effectively?

First Week!

After the first class I can say that I am very excitied about the class, my week was pretty intense I had alot of homework from my other classes including this one but everything is coming together nicely. It toke me awhile to get this blog up and running but now I have my first blog.

In Chapter one it discussed how technology was a huge influence amoung children, I in my own experience can contest to this when I was younger we did not have cell phones or Ipads now their are so many ways for people to communicate with one another and their are so many ways to access information because of all the new technology that exists today. Children are being born into all these new inventions and I believe that it is imporant that teachers beome technologically advanced inorder to keep up with their students because technology is all around them and in their homes. I think by the teacher becoming up to date with technology it can be used as a way to get her students to become more engaged because its something that they can relate to.

Questions:
1. Do you think in order to be a great teacher you must be very advanced in technology or could you be a great teacher and just know the basics.

2. Do you think it is a good idea for children to be online between the ages of 5-8
